The Staff of Tanyigbe Senior High School and its entourage, the E.P. Pastor, Rev. Pastor Benoni Hlomatsi, representatives of Health post and the staff of Tanyigbe Kpodzi E.P. JHS under the leadership of Togbe Afordi together visited the bereaved family of Togbega Adiko V on Monday, 27th March 2017. The team took the opportunity to go and pay homage to the chiefs and elders of Tanyigbe Traditional area over the death of their paramount chief who happened to play a pivotal role in the establishment of our noble TASHS.

The group were welcomed on their arrival. As custom demands, the chiefs and elders asked to know our mission. To this, our spokesperson, Mr. Ben Tseklu informed them of our mission after the exchange of greetings. He erred his displeasure over the non-involvement of Tanyigbe-Kpodzi in the activities leading to the final funeral rites of the paramount chief.  He then stated the importance of Tanyigbe-Kpodzi to be the overall development of Tanyigbe.  To this, he outlined certain vital services Kpodzi renders to Tanyigbe including health care delivery, housing the highest educational institution thus TASHS etc. To this effect, he described Kpodzi as a recognised part of Tanyigbe and should therefore not be left out.

Further, Mr. Ben Tseklu reiterated the significant roles Togbega Kwasi Adiko V played in the establishment of TASHS.  He also advised that, the wish of the late chief was that, all the projects started in the school should be completed through the efforts of the entire community.  He further called for unity among the people of Tanyigbe to ensure the achievements of their set goals, for “A united minority is better than divided majority”.  He informed the chiefs and elders of the decision of the hierarchy of TASHS to name one of the new buildings after Togbega Kwasi Adiko V as a sign of gratitude after the buildings are completed.

The chiefs and elders reacted to our message and assured us that, they have taken cognisance of our grievances and also promised to address them without delay.  With regards to the late chief’s effort in bringing secondary education to Tanyigbe community, a representative of the chiefs informed us that, the father of the late chief laid the foundation to that effect, so all Togbe did was to continue the good work of his father.  He also advised that, the hierarchy of the school should work in unison to ensure that, the prime purpose of Togbe Adiko V is fulfilled.

With regards to presentations, three (3) crates of Malts were donated by the Tanyigbe-Kpodzi team.  In furtherance, TASHS again donated two (2) bottles of Castle Bridge, two (2) cartons of bottled water, a 50kg bag of rice and an amount of GH¢500.00 to remind the community that, the school has not forgotten of the efforts of Togbega Adiko V.  These items were warmly received by the chiefs and elders in council.

After our presentation, the chiefs and elders in turn presented one (1) crate of Malt to us.
